Brad Paisley Lends His Voice to a New Song

Brad Paisley has recorded a new song, “Hard Life,” which is now available for purchase at all digital music outlets. The song was written by Brad’s friend, 23-year-old Joe Kindregan, who has ataxia-telangiectasia (A-T), a rare, fatal genetic disease that combines symptoms of cystic fibrosis, muscular dystrophy, immune deficiencies and cancer.
“I’ve known Joe for several years and he is one of my favorite people,” Brad said. “His disease is physically debilitating, but obviously creatively and mentally, Joe has such tremendous depth. It’s an honor for me to be the person to give voice to his creativity and cause.”
Brad’s artist royalties from U.S. single sales of “Hard Life” will go to A-T Children’s Project for the next year. The A-T Children’s Project is a nonprofit organization that supports and coordinates biomedical research, scientific conferences and a clinical center aimed at finding life-improving therapies and a cure for ataxia-telangiectasia.
Brad and Joe met at a fundraising event in 2005 hosted by hockey star Shjon Podein. During the event, Joe was convinced by his friend Brian Christiansen, who also had A-T, to join him onstage to sing with Brad. Over the years, Joe and Brad have remained in contact and Joe has attended many of Brad’s shows. When Brian lost his battle with A-T a few years ago, Joe knew he wanted to do something to carry on their love of music and with Brad’s encouragement, decided to put his story in a song.
Joe wrote about both the good and bad of life with A-T. He talked to other people who had the disease and put his thoughts on paper to share with Brad. Joe came to Brad’s Nashville studio twice to be a  part of creating the song and thinks Brian would have been proud and excited about both the song and the fact that it was produced and sung by their friend, Brad Paisley.
