Miranda Lambert Blasts Canadian Reporter on Twitter

Miranda Lambert is a pistol packing country girl and proud of it. But there is a time and a place for talking guns and for Miranda, it was not with a writer for the Ottawa Citizen. Miranda took to Twitter to blast the music writer, Patrick Langston, for his questions about her stance on guns during an interview.
“Dear mr writer at the Ottawa Citizen: next time u interview me, let’s keep it about the music and not about your view on my stance on guns … I don’t talk politics period. I’m Not sure all Canadians would like to Be put in your category. Speak for yourself not your country. Thx!” Miranda wrote.
Patrick Langston told the Ottawa Citizen that he was asking Miranda about her cover of the song “Time To Get A Gun” for his story that will run this weekend. The track was originally written and recorded by Canadian singer-songwriter Fred Eaglesmith and describes a man who hears about crime close to home and wonders if it is time to buy a gun. Critics have questioned how Miranda’s version strips away the irony of the song, making it into a pro-gun anthem.
“It’s time to get a gun,” Miranda said to Patrick, explaining her irony-free message in the song. It was then that Patrick asked about her gun views and she said she didn’t want to get political.
Miranda followed her first tweet with a second that backed her refusal to talk politics. She sent one more tweet before dropping the subject, saying she couldn’t wait to see her Ottawa fans at an upcoming performance. Miranda will release her fourth studio album, Four the Record, on November 1st.
